Have to? No. Should? Absolutely. We frequently sell out and can not guarantee a board or kayak will be available if you walk-up. We also launch at specific times each day so making a reservation in advance, ensures that everything will line up for a great experience.

We strongly recommend taking our Intro to SUP class before renting and exploring on your own. Stand-up paddling is not a difficult sport, but it is a lot more fun when you know what you’re doing. Our Intro class covers basic techniques to improve your experience and reduce the chance of injury or damage to the gear.

All Rentals and Classes, unless otherwise noted, include use of a quality SUP paddle board or kayak, paddle, PFD (with whistle) and ankle leash.

We are located inside the Hamilton Creek Recreation Area and launch on-site. For safety and ease of travel, renters must stay within a designated area which covers over a mile of scenic J. Percy Priest Lake. There are no houses, businesses or other parks located within the paddle area, so your view is 360* of uninterrupted nature.

Some Excursions and Special Events may take place outside of this area, but will always be accompanied by a certified instructor who knows the waterway.

We have a variety of SUP boards, the largest of which has a suggested maximum capacity of 300 lbs.

Maximum suggested capacity for our Single Kayaks is 260 lbs, and for our Tandem (2-seater) Kayaks is 660 lbs.

Yes. SUP is great for kids and we have some rules to help them love it as much as you do. Children under age 16 must be accompanied on the water with a parent or guardian unless they are attending one of our classes. Kids under 10 or so may be more comfortable on a parent’s paddle board than on their own; contact us first to talk about your situation. Everyone 12 and under must wear a PFD at all times (it’s the law). We encourage parents to wear PFDs around their kids.

Yes. The U.S. Coast Guard says so. So do we.

We have traditional Class III PFDs as well as inflatable belt packs. Inflatable packs may only be used by guests over the age of 16 and must be worn at all times. Traditional PFDs can be stored on your board/kayak or worn (which is preferred).

Anyone ages 12 or younger MUST, by law, wear a PFD.  We encourage everyone to wear their PFDs at all times, particularly parents to do so around their kids.

Yes. We can hang on to your keys while you are on the water. We recommend that you leave other valuables at home. We do not recommend taking anything on the water that you would mind losing to the bottom of the lake.

Mother Nature can be fickle (especially in Middle TN). If it is light rain, we may still paddle. If the radar suggests the rain will quickly pass through, we may wait it out. You cannot be on the water when there is lightning within 9 miles, thunder or winds above 10 mph.

We will let you know, no later than 1 hour before your rental time, if we have to cancel or delay due to weather. In the event of a cancellation, a credit for a future class or rental will be issued. This rain check is good all season and is transferrable. No-shows or cancellations with less than 24 hours’ notice are not issued credit.  All weather-related cancellations are at the discretion of Nashville Paddle Co.

If you need to reschedule your reservation for any reason, you may do so with at least 24 hours’ notice by calling us at 615-682-1787.

Cancellations due to weather are at the discretion of Nashville Paddle Co and will result in a credit good for any future reservation of equal value within the same calendar year.  Credits are transferrable.

No shows and cancellations with less than 24 hours notice will not be issued a credit or allowed to reschedule.

All sales are final.

For safety and liability, we do not allow alcohol (nor those who are visibly intoxicated) on our boards & kayaks. If you are spotted with alcohol or appear intoxicated, your reservation will be cancelled and a refund will NOT be given.

In addition to our own policies, we operate inside a Metro Parks Nashville recreation area which also prohibits alcohol on the property.

Other non-alcoholic drinks and snacks are welcome during your paddle.

We are located inside a Metro Parks Nashville recreation area with free public access to the lake.  It is a great location to launch your own vessel or have a friend join you with theirs while you rent from us. Most of our classes and excursions have a BYOBoard option for a small fee.

You should plan to get wet and dress accordingly. Swimsuits and board shorts are an obvious choice, but anything that allows for good mobility and comfort in the elements will work. We recommend paddling barefoot, but flip flops or water shoes are nice for getting to and from the water. On cooler days, don’t forget a rash guard or other covering to help with the chill.

Jewelry and other loose items should not be taken on the water. Complimentary sunglass straps are available. Phone cases and dry bags may be available for purchase.

Sunscreen is important, even on overcast days.
